Week 15 in Review

Greetings from Room 119!  We had another randomly short week due to an unexpected power outage.  We still got a lot done and had a great week.  Fuzzy (our elf) didn't show up right away on Monday and we were all very concerned and returned to the awesome listeners we usually are.  We were glad to see him show up later in the morning!  This week we had a unique Thoughtful Thursday project that was nominated by Lily.  To check it out, you can click HERE.  Remember if you know anyone in need to please let us know.  We love doing these projects and lifting others up.

In social studies we have been learning all about maps!  We learned that maps have a title (to tell you what they are of), a compass rose (to tell direction) and a map key with symbols (to tell you what is on the map).  We made a couple maps this week and enjoyed walking around the school to see if we made a map of the school correctly.  Mrs. D. can't wait to see the maps we did for homework of a room in our house!
We are such amazing writer's in Room 119.  We continue to work on writing letters and have done really well.  We also are working on keeping those same targets we have in our everyday writing.  Please feel free to remind us of our capitals, spacing and periods when doing our book writing at home.
In math we have been learning about measurement.  We learned how to measure with a ruler and we also learned how to put things in order from smallest to biggest.  We will be taking an assessment on what we've been working on later next week.
We all continue to work on our reading strategies, whether they be to help us decode words, read fluently or comprehend by making connections.  We are also retelling stories orally in writing and Mrs. D. is seeing a great improvement in our homework written retells as well!
We ended the week with an awesome story read by a wonderful Mystery Reader!  Landon's mom surprised us and did a great job reading to us!  The story she picked out was great because it reminded us of coping skills and many of our classroom meeting topics!

As always to see more, you can click HERE.  If you are planning to volunteer to help for the Holiday Party, please email Mrs. D. as soon as possible as she needs to turn in a volunteer list to the office by Wednesday.  Also, if you haven't yet turned in your holiday party $3, you still can!
Have a great week!
