Greetings from Room 119! We had a busy week, but Mrs. Doran DID finish up testing (and Report Cards). This week's Thoughtful Thursday project went to Mr. & Mrs. Schryer. You can see our project by clicking HERE. Mrs. Doran also heard from Liz Longley (the artist whose song she uses in the videos) and she was so touched by our project. She is hoping to come to school when she is in our state on tour, but it looks like it will be the week we are off for mid-winter break. If you would like to share our Thoughtful Thursday projects with those you know, we now have a FB page just on our projects which you can see and 'like' by clicking HERE.
Cooper had his 7th birthday this week and we had fun celebrating! He donated a new Connect Four game to our classroom which is great for indoor recesses. We were able to play it on Thursday when we came in for part of our block recess and had a blast!
In math we have been working on Greater Than and Less Than problems. We learned the symbols and like to pretend that it is a great big alligator that is eating up the most of what he can. Our entire class did a great job with these skills!
We continued to practice reading while Mrs. Doran met with other students to test them. Now that she has very accurate levels of "Just Right" books, you may see a change in our paper books that come home next week. Keep up the reading each day because that will have the biggest impact on our success!
In writing we continue to practice using time order words in addition to our individual targets. We should be able to tell you what our individual writing targets are, but in case we can't... Don't worry because report cards will be available next week (Mrs. D. will send out a reminder email when they are posted).
We ended our week in our favorite way... with a Mystery Reader! Claire's big brother, Luke came in to read us a wonderful book called Honey- Bunny, Funny- Bunny which is a fun look at a brother and sister. He did a great job and Mrs. D. loved having one of her former first graders come and read to us!
As always~ to see more you can click HERE.
We have been practicing a lot for the Variety Show but learned that they are VERY short on parent volunteers. If they do not get the volunteers, they will have to cancel the show. Please consider signing up to help! You can click HERE to see what they need.
