Greetings from Room 119! Michigan weather hit us again and we missed ANOTHER Wednesday. We will hopefully visit the library again soon! It was a wacky week with a half day/ teacher PD day and Mrs. Doran out Monday for her son's field trip. We did send out some love this week to an amazing teacher who was diagnosed just with stage 4 cancer just before the start of school. You can see the project we made her by clicking HERE.
Our Brassica seeds have sprouted and we were able to make and record observations. We decided since they are small plants it was best to measure them in centimeters to get a more precise measurement.
We also thought about all the things we think we know about plants individually. Then we came together as tables and shared our thoughts and grouped similar ideas. It was fun to see our thoughts organized to enrich our discussions.
Reading is our favorite. With the crazy school weeks and mid-winter break around the corner, Mrs. Doran hasn't started a new chapter book. We are continuing to read books from a series. Recently we've been reading books from the Otis series.
In math we learned about data - what it is and how we can collect it. We then practiced graphing our data together as a class, in small groups and individually.
On Friday it was THE BEST day of the year~ GLOBAL SCHOOL PLAY DAY! We played all day and although we couldn't go outside (because of the cold temps) we had a blast! Play IS serious learning as we learn to cooperate, problem solve and more. Click HERE for a video from the day.
We ended the week with a special Mystery Reader. Naishini's brother (and LLE alum) came in to read The Lorax to us. He did a great job!
Just a reminder that we have our field trip and valentine party coming up! You can check the blog for upcoming events for dates or look back at Mrs. Doran's email blasts in Skyward. They also include all note attachments as well.
Have a great week!
