Greetings from Room 119! The week went by quickly and we were working hard to get so much in. We have had to talk a lot lately about kindness and how to use coping skills or problem solve when things are tough. This learning is important and something we will continue to work on. We also lifted up Janice's Grandad. You can see the project we made for him by clicking HERE. If you know of someone who could use some encouragement, please email Mrs. D. at lauradoran@wlcsd.org.
We started a new read-aloud this week called Harriet the Spy and some of us have even started our own "spy" journals. In addition to that, we've been focusing on non-fiction reading which will be tying into our writing.
We continue to work hard on editing, as what we do with Mrs. Doran is not often transferred into our own writing. We are getting better with peer editing and sharing with our group.
We have learned so much vocabulary this last week as we continue our study of geometry. We've been stretching our brains learning about different attributes. Could you draw a quadrilateral with two right angles! We figured it out! So much fun to see our "a-ha" moments!
Earth Day was Monday and we enjoyed making earth painting, reading The Lorax, and reflecting on what we can do to make this world a better place. We also spent some time on Friday with our buddies cleaning up the playground! We are difference makers!
We ended our week with a special Mystery Reader! Ryleigh and Sienna were so excited when their step-mom came in to read to us! We loved the book!
Have a great week! It's hard to believe it's nearly May! Don't forget to get some i-Ready time in at home and of course get outside! Screen Free Week next week!
