Week 35 in Review

Greetings from Room 119! We've been struggling with showing kindness to others so lately which we've had many class meetings about. We continue to practice showing kindness to others through our Thoughtful Thursday projects. You can see this week's project by clicking HERE.

One of the books we read this week about kindness shows how our actions can spread out and touch others. A great example of this is when we got a card from Grandad Ron for the project we made for him. We love getting mail!
We finished "Harriet the Spy" which also talked a bit about how to treat others. We also worked with Mrs. Doran on reading and looking back to answer questions in text. Some of us have also begun our iReady reading assessments!
In science we will be studying weather. We had a great opportunity to learn about weather when a meteorologist came to talk with us. We learned about weather versus climate and much, much more! What a great experience! Ask us about it!
In social studies we've been learning about government and the different services it provides and how those services are paid for. Ask us what things the government pays for and the purpose of government.
For math this week we were working on our iReady math assessment. Some of us have finished but some of us are still working. Mrs. Doran has encouraged us to take our time and just do our best. We will continue testing next week, so help us to get a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast if possible so we're at our very best!
This week we celebrated our friend Scarlett who turned the Great Eight!! (We also were excited that "eight" was one of our spelling words.) We had fun singing to her! Sto Lat!
Our birthday girl was SUPER surprised and had tears in her eyes when it was revealed that her mom was our Mystery Reader! She did a great job reading to us and Scarlett even read us part of a book and did a great job!

The days are flying by! Just a reminder that next Friday is a half day and there is no school the following Monday due to the Memorial Holiday.
Have a great week!
