Greetings from Room 119! It's hard to believe we just completed our last FULL week of being first graders. By the time you read our next Week in Review we will be second graders! We had a fun week which included MANY fun Mystery Readers! Thank you to all who came in and read to us. We had almost everyone have someone special come in and read. Thank you for coming in and reading to us all year long! It truly was a highlight for us each and every week!
Miss Coe surprised us and was one of our Mystery Readers this week. She even stayed a couple days to help Mrs. D. out!
Tomo's mom did a great job reading to our class and she also shared the same book in Japanese so we could see what the letters looked like!
Jaydan's dad did a great job reading one of Mrs. D's favorite books by Leo Lioni! The same author that wrote the book that Tomo's mom read!
Yana's sister did a great job reading us a book called, "Diary of a Fly." It was a funny book and we all enjoyed it!
Lincoln's mom read us one of Mrs. Doran's favorite books and did a wonderful job!
In Social Studies we've been learning about Wants, Needs, Goods and Services. We've done really well and have had fun singing about what we are learning about!
We've done a lot of work with math facts playing "The Bridge" game that we may have told you about. We've also been working in our math journals. They will be coming home on Monday as we will be doing our LAST page then. If there are any pages that were not completed, they would be great practice over the summer.
We ended our Science Unit on Solids and Liquids by making Oobleck! Oobleck is something that isn't a solid and it isn't a liquid! Our 5th grade buddies made it with us and we had A LOT of fun. We wanted to take it home, but it would have been very messy. To make Oobleck at home, you just need to mix water and corn starch. You can play with it until you get the right consistency. Our Science Notebooks will be coming home in our Portfolios (where our Insect Report and Insect Notebooks are housed too).
We had more butterflies emerge from their chrysalis and are just waiting on one. We will be going out on Monday to release them. We will also have an extra long recess at the end of the day with Mrs. Hill and Mrs. D. to celebrate our awesome year together!
We enjoyed celebrating Tatum's birthday on Friday! She gave everyone a special sticker and invited everyone in the class to her birthday party this summer.
Again, this is just a snapshot of our week! To see more you can click HERE.
Remember Wednesday is our last day of school and it is a half day. If you haven't turned in your library book or paid for a lost book, you will not get a yearbook so be sure to get those in!
