Week 6 in Review

Greetings from Room 119! This week's project went out to a familiar face in Room 119. Vivian's mom taught at LLE years ago and we've made her a project every year since "Thoughtful Thursdays" began. You can check out her project by clicking HERE.

We've been talking a lot about Respect and what it is since it is a focus trait for PBIS. We had an awesome "Chalk Talk" (where we let our writing do the talking) and dug deep into what respect really is. Each month we will also vote for a friend who we see displaying the traits we are focusing on, to be recognized as the LLE Leader of the Month. We can't just pick a name but we have to tell Mrs. Doran, "What makes us say that!"
We are reading up a storm and building stamina as Mrs. Doran reads with individuals. The best way to be a better reader is to READ. Many of us are also taking advantage of our RAZ-kids at home! Talking about our reading is also powerful. Ask us to read to you!
This week we wrote fun small moments about Halloween! We've enjoyed being creative and throwing a little fiction into our writing as well. Many of us are starting to use our Spelling Dictionary a little more and pay closer attention to writing conventions.
In math we looked at doubles facts and sums to ten and how we can use them to help us solve other problems.  For example if we know 5+5=10, we can use it to solve 6+5=11. We also enjoyed writing number stories!
Happy Birthday, Melanie!

We had two birthday celebrations this week! Melanie celebrated on Monday when Mrs. Doran was at Oakland Schools. Even though Mrs. D. was gone, we still sang Sto Lat to her! Mrs. D. was shocked that we knew it well enough to sing by ourselves, but we did. She posted a video of it on our class facebook page!

Happy Birthday, Cruz!

We had a blast when the WLC Vikings came marching through the halls of LLE! We Future Vikings especially loved that some handed out little treats! Mrs. D. even had her old Varsity jacket from a few years ago since she is was a Viking!

And finally it looks like we had an AWESOME time at the Color Fun Run! Thanks to those who sent Mrs. D. pictures! Don't forget to keep those pledges coming in! If Room 119 raises the most money of all the classes WE get to "color" Mrs. Qonja (and Mrs. Doran too since she sadly missed this awesome event). Thank you to all the PTA and volunteers who made this super fun day possible!
Have a great week!
