Week 3 in Review

Greetings from Room 119!  We had another great week!  If you haven't yet signed up for a Mystery Reader slot, please click HERE and email Mrs. Doran about when you can come in and read.  For Thoughful Thursday we lifted up Brian.  You can see his project by clicking HERE.  We already heard from him and he said, "Wow! I'm speechless. Yesterday was a low day for me but this video sure did lift my spirits!!! Thank you so much #Room119 !You kids are the best!"

Did you know that we had our vision tested this week?  We did a great job listening to directions!

 This week we started handwriting and we worked on spelling words with a short "a" sound. We also learned a game called "Sparkle" to help us listen AND spell.  Ask us about it!

In math we worked on counting up and down by ones.  You can practice this at home while making dinner or driving in your car.  We also learned about tallies.  Stay tuned.  There will be more on this next week.

 Our writing has really starting to improve in just a few short weeks.  Our class targets have been using capitals only for the beginning of sentences, for the days of the week and for names.  We are also starting to have individual targets as we conference with Mrs. Doran.

We've also been working very hard on our reading stamina and we're learning that the only way to get better at anything is to practice it!  Mrs. Doran has now read with all of us individually and will start reading groups soon.

 Did you hear that our practice has paid off!  We worked hard and reached our 20 minutes of reading stamina on Thursday.  On Friday we surpassed it and got to 21 minutes!  Mrs. Doran was so proud of us!  We had a great time on our free recess! We earned it!!
