Greetings from Room 119! We had an interesting week in Room 119 mixed with lots of testing and lots of fun. Our Thoughtful Thursday Project this week went out to DeeDee who also happens to be the sister-in-law of Mrs. Ashley. You can check out her story and see our project by clicking HERE.
Together with sales of noses and laugh-o-grams, we raised close to $1500.00 which exceeded the $1000.00 goal that was set! Thank you for your support and donations. We had a great day and even Zero the Hero was sporting a red nose when he stopped by to help us with tens and ones!
Mrs. Doran has been testing away and we've been doing great! It's amazing the progress that we have made this year. Although homework and books are no longer sent home (unless you asked for books), it's important to keep reading.
We started our iReady Test and will continue it next week. Most of us finished the literacy portion and it was fun for Mrs. Doran to see our growth. Next week we will work on the math portion.
On Wednesday we got to visit LLE's own Wax Museum! Our 5th Graders dressed up as famous people and we got to learn all about them. Our goal was to visit 7 people from history but some of us were able to get a few more. Ask us what we thought of it!
We loved looking at what happened to our solids when they spent the weekend in water. Some items had no change, others got bigger because they swelled with water and others seemed to disappear all together!
In math we did a lot of review of things we've worked on this year. We talked about how we 'see' math and how we can solve problems. It was interesting how others may use a different strategy than we do but we end up with the same answer. Some strategies may have been more efficient than our own but we are all building number sense when talking about our thinking.
We ended the week with our Mystery Reader! Bianca's sister came in and read us a fun book! We were a great audience!
As always this is just a snapshot of what we did this week and to see more pictures, you can click HERE. Have a great week!
