Week 7 in Review

Greetings from Room 119! This week's Thoughtful Thursday Project went out to the father of a former LLE teacher! You can see our project by clicking HERE. If you know someone who could benefit from some encouraging letters from some Sensational Second Graders, email Mrs. Doran at lauradoran@wlscd.org

We have been writing up a storm! Our writing fluency is improving and we're using words we learn in language workshop in our writing which is exciting to see. We have new writing pieces hanging in our hallway about what we love about fall.
In math we talked about different strategies we use to solve problems, turn around facts and doubles facts. We love math! Remember to check our Everyday Folders because there may be optional homework we can do for bonuses. Remember- homework is not mandatory but please read the books sent home.
We talked about communities again in social studies. We learned we belong to many communities and made a list. Also, we each made a little brainstorm book about the many communities we belong to.
Mrs. D. forgot to take pictures of Reader's Workshop, but we started groups! She did take pictures of our meeting with Ms. Qonja where she read a great book and talked with us about Growth Mindset. We can actually GROW our brains by taking risks and working on things that are hard for us.
We have so much fun in Room 119! These are just some extra pictures Mrs. D. took from auctions and a fun game we played where we reviewed everything we learned about bats. Please take a moment to sign up for a Mystery Reader slot if you haven't already (we've only had a few people sign up so far). Just email Mrs. D. what day you would like to read and if you'd like to read at 9:30 or noon.
Have a great week!
