Week 17 in Review

Greetings from Room 119 and HAPPY NEW YEAR! We eased our way back into school with a short 3 day week but it was jam-packed. Our Thoughtful Thursday project went to 11 year old Cadence. You can check out our project by clicking HERE. If you know of someone who could use some encouragement, please email Mrs. Doran at lauradoran@wlcsd.org.

One of the highlights of the week (maybe the year) was when Science Alive visited Room 119! Mrs. D. took lots of pictures and videos of us learning about different animals. You can see the video by clicking HERE. She also put all the pictures on our Class Facebook Page. Be sure to check it out!
In math this week, we took the iReady test and also a mid-year assessment. On Monday we will be starting Unit 5 and getting new math journals! It's hard to believe we're half way through the year!
We are building our stamina by dropping everything and writing for a solid 20 minutes. We actually wanted more time so Mrs. D. added on 5 more minutes. The goal is for us to grow in our stamina while also practicing our No Excuses. Mrs. D. shares our writing and we try to guess who wrote what! We loved it!
In Writer's Workshop we worked on letter writing and reviewed the 5 things all letters need. We also learned about the LLE Post Office and how to address an envelope. If we want to send mail through the LLE Post Office it is 5 cents per sheet.
Another highlight of the week was when we had a MYSTERY READER!! Marcus was so excited to learn that his mom was able to come in and read to us. She read a fun story that we loved!
PLEASE consider signing up to be a Mystery Reader. Click HERE to see available dates and email Mrs. D. to let her know which day you'd like to come in and read!

On Monday or Tuesday, you will see a permission slip coming home for an upcoming field trip! We will be going to the Outdoor Center. Keep your eyes open!
Have a great week!
