Greetings from Room 119! This week we sent a Thoughtful Thursday project to Mrs. Ashley. She used to teach at LLE. You can check our our project by clicking HERE. We are in need of people in need of us. If you know of someone who may need some encouragement, please email Mrs. Doran at lauradoran@wlcsd.org.
This week we spent a lot of time learning about Dr. Martin Luther King and his message. In addition to reading about him and learning about his life, we focused on the importance of being an "Upstander" instead of a bystander. We decided to make "The Promise" we read about the book, "The Juice Box Bully."
In reading we will be focusing on series of books. This week we identified the different characteristics of series and what makes a series a series.
In writing we are practicing writing letters. We wrote letters to Mr. Neill from Science Alive and we also wrote letters to a favorite character in a book. In addition to writing our letters we're really focusing on editing. More on this next week too!
Our main focus this week was MONEY!! We learned that there are different ways to show the same amount of money. We also learned how to make change by counting up! We did a great job but practicing counting change at home will also help us cement our learning!
We ended the week with a visit from TWO mystery Readers! We loved having Isaac's mom, cousin and little brother come in to read to us!
There are MANY open slots for Mystery readers. PLEASE consider signing up for an open date. You can click HERE for available dates.
Don't forget we don't have school on Monday. Please consider checking out our district's AWESOME MLK celebration. To learn more you can click HERE.
Have a great week!
