Greetings from Room 119! We were glad to have someone to lift up for Thoughtful Thursday. You can read about Stan and see our project by clicking HERE. We strive each day to be kind and the best people we can be. If you know someone who can benefit from some kind acts from us, email Mrs. Doran at lauradoran@wlcds.org.
We continue to read series books and have had such fun discussing them and learning about the characters. We're getting more and more involved in books and maturing as readers. Remember, we can be reading on A-Z at home too. If you have questions on how we log in, email Mrs. Doran. We continue to read A-Z books and practice look-backs and comprehension questions as well.
We have been writing about our reading and went back to reviewing retells. We are working on developing our beginnings, middles and endings and focusing on a new book each week. Our target is to be thorough and hit our individual targets. One thing is for sure, our stamina is preparing us for third grade (can you believe we're half way through the year already?).
In math this week, we looked at how diagrams can help us organize our thinking and solve problems. We've had such great math talks and Mrs. Doran has seen us teach strategies to our friends that she hasn't even introduced yet. Learning through discovery and stretching our minds sure is awesome!
We were so honored to have Marcus' brother come in and read to us as our Mystery Reader! We were especially excited because he is in the Navy and we were able to ask him lots of questions AND (of course) thank him for his service. He also read some really fun books to us! Thank you for coming in!! If YOU would like to be a Mystery Reader in Room 119, click HERE to see available times and email Mrs. Doran with which time you can come in!
Just a reminder that February 1st is a half day AND GLOBAL PLAY DAY!! To hear more about this, check out the note that Mrs. D. sent home last week (and will resend again with the email blast Monday) or click HERE. Thanks for being supportive of us and encouraging us to be the best we can be!
