Week 33 in Review

Greetings from Room 119! This week's Thoughtful Thursday project went out to the uncle of a student that Mrs. D had in class last year. You can see this project by clicking HERE.

Mrs. Doran had a GREAT week and wanted to thank the PTA and all the others who helped make her feel so special this week. She was overwhelmed by your kindness. Thank you for making teacher appreciation week the best ever!
We also had fun celebrating our friend, Olivia's, birthday! It's great to be eight!
Many of us are WILD about our fidget spinners but it's really hard to learn when they are out. We are allowed to bring them out for our free choice but if we have them out during learning, Mrs. D. will take them overnight. She will return them the next day. If we do it a second time you will get a note asking the fidget spinners stay at home. Thanks for your help with this.
We are "reading machines" and Mrs. D. has begun testing us again. She is able to read with only one or two of us a day so this can take a bit of time. We don't mind at all because she's letting us read books we love! Please keep up reading at home so we're on our 'A' game!
Speaking of reading, we read our first graphic novel together and loved it! El Deafo was not just a graphic novel, we were able to get a few insights into someone's life who is hearing impaired. It's important to learn about those who are different than us. Some loved this book so much, they went out at got their own copy!
After finishing our fairy tales (we published them either by writing them out or typing them on our own) and then creating a fun way to display them, we were able to free write. Many of us have been writing our own graphic novels. Next week we'll be doing a retell to see how we've grown since the beginning of the year. We'll also be taking some iReady tests.
The historians of Room 119 learned about Mexican History on Cinco De Mayo! Our buddies also joined us. We love celebrating all people and were excited to share what we learned with you.
We ended the week with a Mystery Reader! John's cousin came in and read us a wonderful book that had us all laughing. If you have not yet signed up for a time to read to us, the end of the year will be coming soon. Please consider coming in. Having someone we know come and read to us REALLY means a lot to us!

Don't forget to turn in those screen free sheets on Monday!
Have a great week!
