Greetings from Room 119. We had a shorter week than usual but we still packed in a lot of learning. This week our Thoughtful Thursday went out to Coach Greg. You can see our project by clicking HERE. His family also has a GoFundMe page that you can access in the description of the video.
We celebrated our first birthday in Room 119 this week and Mrs. Doran taught us a birthday song in Polish! Jory brought in goodie-bags for everyone and opened up a book her family got her so that Mrs. D. could read it to the class. If you have a birthday coming up, please give Mrs. Doran a heads up! Happy Birthday, Jory!
We are building our reading stamina and made it to 20 minutes (we stopped about a minute shy of 20 but most of us were on track and doing awesome). Next week, Mrs. D. is looking forward to reading with us individually!
We are also working on our writing stamina! We have been writing for 15 minutes after which we share with a buddy who asks us questions about our writing (and we ask them questions about their writing). Then we go back to write a bit more and finally share with the entire class.
We know there are many ways to show numbers (tallies, coins, number problems and more). This week we explored the different ways we can show a number with coins. We reviewed the different coins and their values.
We were asked by one of Mrs. D's friends to make cards for WWII Veterans who will be traveling to Washington DC on an Honor Flight. You can see an example of what we did by clicking HERE. We know they are going to love our cards. Room 119 is awesome at making others feel great!
Enjoy your long weekend and Happy New Year to all our Jewish friends and families!
