Week 3 in Review

Greetings from Room 119! This week's Thoughtful Thursday project went out to the family of Daisy. You can see the project we made for them by clicking HERE.

Thank you to all who were able to attend curriculum night. Remember that all of the handouts can be found throughout the year on Mrs. Doran's blog. Please take this short feedback survey by clicking HERE. As always if you have any questions, please let her know!
Despite these short weeks we've really been growing our reading stamina. Mrs. Doran has been able to read with four of us and will email you to let you know what she noticed about us as readers. THE most important thing you can do to help us grow as readers is to read to us and have us read to you!
We are also growing our writing stamina. We are up to writing for 15 minutes before we meet with a buddy to talk about and edit our work before before we share it out. Knowing we have a reader for our writing is helping us improve already!
In math we have been working on finding equivalent numbers (we actually do this everyday in our math warm-up) and we also played a game to help us solve for unknown numbers with sums of ten. We can play this game at home with pennies so ask us about it. You can also now log in to the math website. Check the back of our Everyday Folder for our login password.
We were so excited to get on our chromebooks this week! We are learning the routines and how to log in on our own. We were all able to access the math website and play some of the games there. We will work on this more each week.
Room 119 was the recipient of an act of kindness from a former parent who treated the class to donuts! She also heard we had a student with a gluten allergy so sent in a special treat for her, too. This was done in memory of Mrs. Doran's son, Andrew, who passed away 15 years ago. It was such a sweet and precious gift and this year's Sensational Second Graders gave it a thumbs up!! Thank you, Mrs. B!
We were able to celebrate another birthday this week! We sang to Olivia in English and Polish and Mrs. D. was really impressed how we've picked up on the song so quickly.
We ended our week in a way we LOVE... with a MYSTERY READER! Thank you very much to Ari's mom for coming in to read to us! If you would like to sign up to be a Mystery Reader, please click HERE for available dates. We are still in search of a Mystery Reader for next Friday!

Just a reminder that students have a half day on Tuesday (teachers have professional development) and no school on Wednesday due to the Jewish holiday. Have a great week!
