Greetings from Room 119! This week we lifted up Mr. Eric. You can see the project we made to him by clicking HERE. If you know someone who could use some love from some Sensational Second Graders, email Mrs. D. at lauradoran@wlcsd.org.
One of the things we did for writing this week was an activity that we will do (usually) on Mondays called "Mystery Monday." First we are posed a question. This week's was, "How is gold made?" Next we write about what we think the answer may be. Then we watch a video on the topic which gives us more information to add to what we already know and finally we write about what we now think. We did a great job for our first time with this!
In math we worked on making sums to ten with a game called "Fishing for Ten" and we also worked more with skip counting and numbers on a number line. We hope to take our Unit 1 Assessment Next week. Look for journal pages to come home early next week if you'd like to review. Also Homelinks (optional math homework) also begins (primarily) in Unit 2.
We logged on for a second time to our chromebooks and it went well. Next week we will start our first iReady Assessment for the year. If you haven't brought in headphones and would like to, next week would be a great week to do it!
Did you know that Constitution Day was last week? We celebrated by learning about the Constitution. We learned what a constitution is and watched a video to learn even more. You can see it by clicking HERE.
We ended the week with a great visit from Liam's dad as our Mystery Reader! He read a funny book that we all enjoyed! We love Mystery Readers! If you would like to be a Mystery Reader click HERE for available dates and email Mrs. Doran.
We were VERY excited to learn that we were all hired for work in Room 119. Ask us what our job will be this trimester as well as what our salary is! We are so excited to start this!
Have a great week!
