Greetings from Room 119! It was good to be back to school and we had a fun time with a Spirit Week to get ready for READING MONTH! Of course we also lifted someone up for Thoughtful Thursday. You can see this week's project by clicking HERE. If you know of someone in need of encouragement, email Mrs. D. at lauradoran@wlcsd.org.
In reading we focused again on author's message. We read a lot of Seuss this week and realized that even Dr. Seuss put some messages in his books. We also started a new chapter book called "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" that is old and weathered and a book Mrs. D. read when she was young. March is a great time to find a favorite book from your childhood and read it to us!
For writing we wrote letters to the LLE community telling them about our favorite book and why we think they should read it. Ask us about our favorite books!
We were shocked by how much our Brassica plants grew while we were gone! We cross pollinated our flowers and some of us already have pods growing so we can harvest the seeds. Ask us about the plant cycle!
In math we learned about ballpark estimates! We spent some time on this and most of us are feeling really good. Ask us about ballpark estimates and give us a number to "round."
We still need Mystery Readers (check out our Mystery Reader Page on the blog for available dates). We did have two WLC football players come to read to us and Mrs. D. was surprised to find out that she went to WLC with one of the boys' father.
Don't forget to read and have fun with the Reading Month Calendar! Remember to send in those flashlights for Flashlight Friday Reading!!
Have a great week!
