Greetings from Room 119. Mrs. Doran missed a few days this week because her Nana (to whom she was VERY close) passed away at the amazing age of 100. We made cards for her family. You can see that project by clicking HERE.
We tended our grass this week and also planted wheat seeds. We also recorded all our data.
In math we worked together to add multiple two-digit numbers. We shared our strategies and looked for ways that were correct and more efficient. We found that finding sums of ten made this task easier.
Also in math we did some measurement with yard and meter sticks. We learned that our arm spans are about as long as a meter stick so we estimated the length of our classroom and then did some measurement with meter-sticks. Our estimates were correct!
Room 119 got to celebrate two amazing girls who know it's great to be 8! Happy Birthday to Leah and Janice! Sto Lat! (Mrs. Doran wasn't in school on Leah's birthday so we taught Sto Lat to Ms. Shields!).
We ended the week with some awesome flashlight, friend, Friday reading! It's hard to believe that Reading Month is almost over (but of course we'll still be doing a lot of reading). Ask us what's going on in the Secret Zoo!
Our friend, Carter, moved this week. We were so sad to see our friend go but wish him all the best at his new school. We made him cards to let him know how special he is to us!
Have a great week!
