Greetings from Room 119! We had a busy week. Mrs. D. was able to read with almost all of us for her testing and only has a few more students to read with. We all made some progress. The number one thing that you can do for us to help us become better readers is to read to us and let us read to you! Please carve out a little time each night (right before bed if it's easiest) to read for at least 10 minutes (5 if that's all you have). Mrs. D. knows this can be hard (since she does this with four of her own kids) but it WILL make a huge difference! Make it your resolution!
We work for stickers!! This week we worked on the letter C in handwriting and Mrs. D said if we worked hard to recognize the tall, medium and descending letters, she would put a sticker on our page. She got some GREAT handwriting. Now that she knows what we can do, she's going to hold us to it. As we write for homework next week, please make sure we form letters correctly (think top to bottom).
Math was fun this week. We now have three volunteers which is making it easier for Mrs. D. to do Math Workshop the way she likes. She is able to work with small groups of us to really see our thinking and problem solving and help us before we get into bad habits. This week we focused on "greater than" and "less than" and finding "how much more than." We didn't get to our math test this week. With all the reading, Mrs. D. postponed it a week. We will still do math workshop next week with our wonderful volunteers! If you are able to volunteer she is still looking for volunteers on Tuesday and one more on Thursday.

| Happy 7th Birthday Daniela!!! |
On Friday, our birthday girl was surprised when HER mom turned out to be our Mystery Reader! She threw both hands in the air and said, "YES!" Daniela's mom did a wonderful job reading to us. She read us a "Skippyjon Jones" book. We were all respectful which is good because that is what our school has been working on for our PBS. As always, this is just a snapshot of our week. To see a bit more of what Mrs. D's camera was able to capture, you can click HERE, or check out the video below.
