Week 19 in Review

Greetings from Room 119!  It was a quick week for us!  Mrs. Doran was not in school on Monday (one of her sons had a doctor's appointment) and Friday was a professional development day for teachers.

We read a lot of Biographies this week learning about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and all the things he stood for.  We also read about Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges who also faced prejudice during the same time.  In writing, we reviewed letter writing (and did a GREAT job) and wrote about what we learned from the biographies we read.
Another reason our week seemed so short was that on Thursday we attended two assemblies to perform our Variety Show act. In the morning we performed for the lower el classes and got to watch all the lower el acts and then in the afternoon we REALLY wanted to perform it for our 5th grade buddies so Mrs. D. let us do it in the afternoon too.  We did a great job at all our performances! WLTV took video and will be selling DVDs later but Mrs. D. put together a still pictures video that you can see by clicking HERE or checking out below.
In math we continued to work on our "end of the marking period" math test.  It's a long one and Mrs. D. wants to make sure that we all understand the directions, so she's been giving it to us in small groups.  We will finish it up on Tuesday of next week.

And finally, just a reminder that we will not be having school on Monday.  It is a Teacher Records Day and our district will be having a special MLK celebration in the evening.  It is a wonderful event! To learn more about it you can click HERE or view the promotional video below.
