Greetings from Room 119! Thank you for helping us practice our lines for the Thanksgiving Play next week! We're doing a great job with it and looking forward to making our costumes next week. We also finished the biography, "Squanto" and then wrote about what we learned. We have found this time in history very interesting and enjoyed learning about the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. Our Thoughtful Thursday project went to Mrs. Doran's friend's daughter. They were so thankful for the video (which you can see by clicking HERE) and hope to see some of us at the upcoming fundraiser where we can bowl and see Santa! Mrs. Doran is sad to miss it but will be with her daughter at dance (which is where she spent her last weekend and why she is late getting up last week's blog post).
One way we have learned to practice skip counting is by using calculators! We have had such fun with these and it has helped us as we count higher and higher. It has also helped us to see how to write three digit numbers in the hundreds.
We started reading groups again this week and as a class have been talking about making connections in settings. We've done a great job talking about our reading and our thoughts and finding things in text.
We have done such a wonderful job in writing and Mrs. D. is so proud of our writing stamina. Most of us are paying close attention to detail by fixing our capitals, using nice spaces and correcting spellings of words we find on our word wall.
After having a fun "Turkey Trivia" with our fifth grade buddies, we ended the week in our favorite way, with a Mystery Reader! Nolan's mom came in and read a book to us all about a snowman. She did a great job and it was perfect because there was so much snow falling outside!
Please remember that we go outside for recess if the windchill is above zero. It is also VERY helpful if you mark our cold weather gear with our names or initials. Silver sharpie markers work great on black boots and snowpants. Of course this is just a snapshot of how we spent our week. To see more pictures, you can click HERE. Also, don't forget to keep bringing in those non-perishable foods and cans to help feed the hungry in our area! Great job Room 119!
