Week 9 in Review

Greetings from Room 119!  It's hard to believe it is now November!!  The marking period is over so you can no longer check grades in Skyward because access is denied while Mrs. D. works on grades.  If you do have any questions, as always, just ask.  Our behavior grades from October will be coming home next week so be sure to keep a look out for them.  We did a great job this week and had TWO class PBIS tickets written for our class by other staff members.  We have a lot to smile about, but we learned on Thursday that children in Iraq do not have a lot to smile about at the moment.  They were the recipients of our Thoughtful Thursday project.  To see what we sent them, you can click HERE.

Mrs. D. is happy with the progress that all of us are making.  We are using our decoding skills more often and becoming more accurate readers.  We are also practicing often to become more fluent.  Be sure to set aside a little time each day to practice reading.  The books Mrs. D. sent home last week were a little harder.
We have done such an excellent job in writing.  We are all building on our writing stamina and we are getting better at remembering and being able to talk about our individual learning targets.  Once we meet a target, Mrs. D. gives us a new one.  Ask us what our target is!
We are all working on writing more detail.  This week for a Portfolio Piece, we wrote about our Halloween Costumes.  We had so much fun and did such a great job that most of us filled up two pages of writing!  You will be able to see what we wrote because they will be added to our portfolios that Mrs. D. will show you at conferences.
In math, the target this week was being able to talk about odd and even numbers and tell whether any number is even or odd.  We did a great job talking about our learning.  Ask us about odd and even numbers!  Remember to keep practicing other concepts too, like counting up and down, telling time and counting nickels and pennies.  Be sure to check out Mrs. D's Video Help on the blog.  We can watch those lessons to review or for added practice.

We ended the week with a WONDERFUL Halloween Party.  You can see the video of the party by clicking HERE.  Norelle's mom did a great job planning the party and she had a great group of marvelous moms helping her!  Thanks for a great party ladies!

The November "Upcoming Events" are now on the blog.
