Week 13 in Review

Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving from everyone in Room 119!  It was a short week, so Mrs. Doran didn't take her usual pictures.  She of course did take a video of our play (and pictures) and put it together in a video for you to enjoy.  You can see it by clicking HERE.

 In our Everyday Folders are some funny pictures that we made with Mr. Stearns.  Did you know we go to the media center each week to learn more about computers and typing? Ask us about it!

On Monday, we again reviewed how to solve story problems. We had to think about our thinking and we told Mrs. Doran the steps and she wrote them down.  It seemed writing down the steps helped us and almost everyone got the story problem section correct on the test!

After our practice test, Mrs. D. was able to make groups of us and focus on things that were a little tricky for us still.  It worked because we did great on our test and we had many students with perfect test scores!!

We also learned how to skip count using calculators.  This has been a great resource to check our counting by 2s, 5s and 10s and we've also enjoyed trying to count by other numbers as well.

We enjoyed working on our targets in writing but we also had fun writing some Thanksgiving themed pieces.  We could do whatever we wanted on these turkeys and they came home in our Everyday Folders.

We also did some persuasive writing with our fifth graders.  We pretended we were turkeys and had to persuade people NOT to eat us for Thanksgiving.  Our buddies also showed us their awesome interactive art that they did with Mrs. Carlson.  They really are talented!

It was a busy three days in Room 119 but we did get a lot done. We will be starting a new (measuring) unit in math, writing unit (letter writing) and we'll be getting new books when we return. It was a great week!  If you're wondering why just the girls are in the picture above it's because they were a little bummed that Mrs. D. made their pilgrim hats by herself.  They were very plain and we wanted to decorate head pieces just like the boys so we did. Since you won't see THESE in the play, she promised to put them here!
